GRANADA Nike Air Force 1 Alte Donne Scontate , Spain, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- The international governing body for university sports FISU have reopened the bidding process for 2019 Universiade after the previous winners Brasilia dropped out earlier last month.
"We've already re-opened the candidacy for 2019 and if Brasilia want to be a candidate again, they are welcome Nike Air Force 1 Alte Uomo Scontate ," FISU president Claude-Louis Gallien, told Xinhua in a pre-games interview on Wednesday in Granda where the 27th Winter Universiade later unveiled.
In early January, the Brazilian capital announced to withdraw as the host of the 2019 Would University Games Nike Air Force 1 Alte Scontate , which they earned in late 2013 after both their rivals Baku of Azerbaijan and Hungary's Budapest dropped out at the last moment.
According to a press release from the newly-elected governor of the Federal District, Rodrigo Rollemberg, Brasilia is unable to " meet its financial obligation" to host the bi-ennial multi-sport event.
The Minister of Sport of Brazil and the president of the National University Sport Federation of Brazil have both expressed their disappointment in the withdrawal and additionally committed to take "all necessary steps" to move the event to another city in Brazil Nike Air Force 1 07 Basse Scontate , according to FISU at that time.
Gallien, however, was not worried about the situation facing the 2019 Universiade.
"We have other candidates and things are going well with all those candidates. We'll choose the best one Nike Air Force 1 07 Mid Scontate ," said the Frenchman who's elected as the new head of FISU in 2011 in Shenzhen, China.
Asked to name the specific cities interesting in bidding for a university event, Gallien gave a tricky answer: "Who are they? wait a minute. But I'll tell you one thing in secret that I and the general secretary of FISU have been in Rome not so long ago Nike Air Force 1 07 Alte Scontate , and Budapast and Minsk also."
"People are interested by the Universiade," he emphasized. "Now we'll make a good choice on the host for 2019."
Brasilia's withdrawal comes as 2015 hosts Gwangju were hit with a huge budget cut of about 10 million U.S. dollars in December, as well as the worldwide rhetoric of these major multi-sport events around the world Nike Air Force 1 07 Scontate , from Universiades to Olympics, has shifted to reducing out-of-control budgets and focusing on legacy.
MANILA, July 18 (Xinhua) -- A new Asia Development Bank (ADB) report said Monday China is "on track to meet earlier growth projections" of 6.5 percent for 2016 and 6.3 percent for 2017 despite weak global prospects and Brexit.
In East Asia, growth forecasts are unchanged at 5.7 percent in 2016 and 5.6 percent in 2017, with China, the world's second largest economy, on track to meet projected growth of 6.5 percent in 2016 and 6.3 percent in 2017, the Manila-based bank said in a statement.
To support its targets, it said the Chinese government is expected to continue using fiscal and monetary stimulus measures.
The statement also said that growth in Asia and the Pacific's developing economies for 2016 and 2017 "will remain solid as firm performances from South Asia, East Asia and Southeast Asia help offset softness from the U.S. economy, and near-term market shocks from the Brexit vote."
In a supplement to its Asian Development Outlook 2016 report, released last March, ADB now forecasts 2016 growth for the developing economies at 5.6 percent, below its previous projection of 5.7 percent.
For 2017, growth is seen unchanged at 5.7 percent.
"Although the Brexit vote has affected developing Asia's currency and stock markets, its impact on the real economy in the short term is expected to be small," said Shang-Jin Wei, ADB's chief economist.
However, he added "in light of the tepid growth prospects in the major industrial economies, policy makers should remain vigilant and be prepared to respond to external shocks to ensure growth in the region remains robust."
Growth in 2016 and 2017, the report notes, is led by South Asia, and India in particular, which continues to expand strongly, while China is on track to meet earlier growth projections.
The report says South Asia is expected to be the fastest growing subregion, led by India, whose economy has shrugged off global headwinds and is on track to meet ADB's March fiscal year 2016 (year to March 2017) projected growth target of 7.4 percent, supported by brisk consumer spending and an uptick in the rural economy.
In Pakistan, further improvements in energy supply, higher infrastructure investments, and an improved security environment will help push up growth in 2016 and 2017 the report says, while the Bangladesh economy will remain robust on the strength of its garments sector.
In Southeast Asia, the report says growth forecasts for the subregion in 2016 and 2017 remain unchanged at 4.5 percent and 4.8 percent, with solid performances by most economies in the first half of 2016 driven by private consumption.
"The exception was Vietnam where the economy came under pressure from a worsening drought that caused a contraction in the agriculture sector," it says.
It also says that continued soft commodity prices and the recession in (Russia) have further dampened the growth outlook for Central Asia, with the earlier 2016 forecast of 2.1 percent trimmed to 1.7 percent, and 2017 cut to 2.7 percent from 2.8 percent.
"The slump in revenues from hydrocarbon exports are affecting fiscal consolidation efforts in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, while lower remittances, particularly from the Russian Federation, continue to hurt domestic consumption in the subregion," it says.
In the Pacific, the report sees growth for 2016 is expected to moderate to 3.9 percent in 2016 from 7.1 percent in 2015, with the Fijian economy reeling from Cyclone Winston.
